Modern Mantel
My client wanted to replace this builder-special brick fireplace facade with something more modern and fresh. A corbled brick shelf was removed up top, and the black doors removed as well.
The new design completely covered the old brick and included a white tiled hearth, and an upper field of white shiplap wood.
The mantel itself included an upper shelf and a spare, modern take on pilasters. The hearth base was also wrapped in white painted wood.
The existing crown moulding on the ceiling was tied into the new design for continuity. In the end the design offered a bold and modern take on a fireplace mantel, and made a statement in this living room.
My client wanted a modern mantel to replace the tired and dated brick around this fireplace. After reviewing inspirational pictures from various sources we settled on a design of white painted wood and white tile. The shiplap feature on top was especially desired by my client and it helped define the style. The new fireplace completely transformed the room.
