Master Bath With Heated Floor
In this bath remodel, an old Jacuzzi tub was removed and replaced with a modern stand-alone soaking tub. The faucet is mounted to the floor itself and includes a hand-held wand. The toilet sits in a separate area with its own door.
The double vanity is flanked by two side lights and the ceiling was fitted with recessed LED lighting as well. The tile floor is 12x24 inch porcelain cararra tile in a 1/3 offset pattern.
The frameless shower doors are not yet installed in this picture, and you can see the 9x12 inch cararra tile in a 1/2 offset running bond pattern. Marble shelves add functionality.
Under the floor tile there is electric radiant heat installed, which is controlled by a programmable touch screen thermostat in the room.
The original master bath had a large built-in Jacuzzi tub which sat unused, and the dated fixtures and tile were due for change. I often find that owners don't use their old jet style tubs and prefer to just have them removed. This bath was a challenge due to an uneven floor and the owner's desire for both a heated floor and a large format tile. A lot of work went into preparation for the floor tile and making a flat surface. The Schluter Ditra system was used for the electric radiant heat.
